Visioning the Chaordic Institute

part of the DesignOfPilot pages

Everything starts with a vision...

Do participate in this visioning for the Chaordic Institute (and / or the Permaculture Network you would like to see):

(also see Wild Design page)

we want the vision to be a collective one, eventually, and the Chaordic Institute design to facilitate the realization of this vision.

- just write your vision here (no need to discuss the visions of any one else, at this point)

please don´t delete or question anyone else's work here, just add your own..

VISIONS

Martine

All active permaculturists have functioning profiles and understand how they can use the CI to

find out about each other,

tell each other about their work,

understand the contribution of permaculture pioneers,

plan to work in collaboration,

make best use of precious opportunities to meet face to face.

Tomas

Designers and practitioners work together across national, cultural and continantal boudaries

Permaculturists share knowledge, skills and experiences

A widely accessed and accessible website (or wiki)

There are a full understanding of the objetives and functions of the institute, as a wonderfull complement of another projects, webs, etc.

It becomes as the central square of the "global permaculture transition town" where people see each other, take a rest after work, shares experiences, ideas, knowledge

: all of the above!

I would like that at IPC9 people arrive knowing something already about the majority of the people there: because they will have seen their faces and introductions on the web of an Institute's pilot. So we can concentrate on all the other new stuff coming at us.

That eventually we have something like a permanent online conference with people presenting their work to all their colleagues: like at a conference, but not just for the very privileged few that can travel.

For people to know each other, rich interchange of ideas across all borders, that can only happen when people get to know each other first as people, as friends, then as colleagues.

That the quality control in our network is achieved by transparency, really by the PC community at large (this ideal is embodied in most of the Diploma assessment methodologies, but rarely achieved in practice: only a few privileged get to see the content of the work)

Likewise re: above. Where our global learning community can interact, mentor etc...a doorway / hub into the chaordic world of permaculture on the ground. A place where we can engage in the feedback between theory and practice at a global scale.

I would like to see a better framing of the comunications, mostly in the convergence. I'm thiking about theme forums between existing permaculture organizations, where operators can share experience on same arguments:education, seed saving, invisible structure, human resources managment, etc. Issues that shouldn't be for the general public. And maybe invite an expert for each of the issues to cooperate at the forum. And to aim to get a protocol or a syntesys of the forum discussion to be posted on the web. It should be a very screen invitation process of the orgnization team in cooperation with the organization interested.

I think that the movement needs a forum where the majority of the subjects doing and teaching permaculture comes to agreement to the standard PDC and to its improvements. Maybe a forum composed by the first and second generation teachers with some elements of the third generation, so that the protocol could have a recognized autorithy within the branches of the movement.

I would like to see a basic human managment teaching program in the PDC's aimed to prepare teachers. Like what the friends of the OEAC are doing.
