Karsten Winnemuth (
solaterra@gmx.de)
from Kassel, a city of 200.000 inhabitants in the middle of Germany
I´m a gardener with good experience in growing vegetables, fruit trees and seed production.
got to know permaculture first in 1996 wwoofing across the UK, espcially inspired by Plants For A Future, did the 72-hours-course at Keveral Farm, Cornwall, offered by Bryn Thomas, George Sobol, Patsy Garrard in august 1997.
student at the german Permakultur Akademie for about 2 years.
in Kassel I initiated the art + cultural initiative TRA.FO (www.trafohaus.eu), where we converted an unused electricity-transformation station into a lovely gallery and uncommercial meeting point. Behind the small building (which is located quite in the city center) I was able to acquire some public ground for a little open garden which is meant as a living sculpture about diversity and abundance and the first manifestation of my project "plan t" (there is plenty for all of us), which aims at sustainable plantations in the city area on a relevant scale.
Also I love music, our band STROM kind of invented the concept of FREE FLOW, and since 2004 we organise the www.freeflowfestival.de for improvisation, experiment + participation.
I can offer a presentation of my work at the EUPC.
I come to the EUPC because I´m interested in the topics (especially urban pc, transition towns, 10.000 trees project) and to broaden the perspective.
and I like travelling.....
