aManda is north american born and was raised by her Brazilian mother.

Begging to question and connect through art in her late teens, her interests and passions have spanned ceramics, paint, fabric, silver, metal, fibers, reclaimed materials, photography, hand percussion as well as a variety of Afro based, fire and improvisational dance.

After receiving a scholarship from PAL, Permacultura America Latina, and attending a Permaculture certification course in 2004 through IPEP in Brazil, aManda was able to turn her pains of injustice into fuel by focusing on solutions.

In ‘05 she returned to the States to attend the New College where she graduated from their Culture Ecology and Sustainable Community program. During that year she coordinated urbanGREEN- an urban permaculture regeneration project at the New Dharma Meditation Center for urbanPEACE and was co-director of “Our Garden” a gardening and urban ecology program rooted in cultural awareness at Hoover Elementary in Oakland California.

In 2007 aManda traveled to India to apprentice with New Mexico based permaculturalist Rico Zook. This year she is co-organizing a month long permaculture certification tour based out of her experience last year.  She believes traveling to be one of the most beneficial ways to gain a constructive criticism of one own cultural conditionings. She offers this tour as a positive way to begin the conversation and find the inspiration in moving toward the mass cultural shift necessary in these times.
